Delayed Orders Expected Ship Date - March 3rd

We apologize for the small number that are currently delayed. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are aiming to resolve the delays and expect to ship all outstanding orders by March 3rd.

In the meantime, please see the following image for some in-progress photos of cases fresh out of the anodization process.

Background Info:

The delay was mainly due to defects and imperfections (and in general, quality) of the finishing on the aluminum casings. The first batch of parts were done by a specific anodization vendor. While we were able to find enough acceptable parts to get the majority of pre-orders out, there was a very high number of parts that were rejected due to dings, inconsistencies in the look of the finish, visible defects, etc.

We wanted to make sure that at arms length, and under a variety of “office lighting conditions,” there would be no visible defects that took away from the look and feel of the macropad.

This is quite an aggressive quality requirement, and our casing vendor decided that there would be much to gain from owning the entire process (from machining to finishing to anodization). The delay is from the time necessary for them to set up and tune the parameters of the anodization process, as well as figure out the steps to get the consistent finish that we wanted.
